Opening of the new season in Berlin

The first stage of The UIM Motosurf World Championship took place in the capital of Germany from 26th to 28th of May. There were 102 racers coming from 20 countries.
The race program included 6 categories - Juniors, Stock, Rookies, Women, Open and Electric Challenge.

In the Junior class for boys, Kuwaiti athletes were at their best - the fastest racer was Hamad Alhaddad, and Fares Rammadhnad came second. Sebastian Kostelecký from the Czech Republic finished third. In the Junior Girls class, racers from Slovakia were the strongest. They took all three first places in the competition - Zara Kubincová got the first place, Emma Strculova was second and Sara Zuborova got the third place.

In the Electric category, the German athlete Fabian Kusche from MotoSurf Club quite amazed local spectators bу taking 3rd place. Czech racer Michal Skocek, who represented a new team - Rocket Racing, was second. And Alain Coppens from Belgium, a multiple world champion in powerboating, got first place.


In the Stock R class, there were several new faces from new countries at the championship, such as Mike Michaelides from Cyprus, who came 6th in his debut championship. Adam Hedberg from Sweden took 5th place, Renzo de Craen from Belgium got 4th place. A great weekend ended very well for Vatcharasak Janthorn from Thailand who got 3rd place, and Alexander Lanner even brought home the first ever podium for Sweden in motosurfing, taking 2nd place. The Czech Republic racer Oliver Navara was leading the whole weekend, took victory in the final and got the overall victory.

​​The racing in the Stock Class was amazing with fifty riders competing for just 48 places in the heats and then just twelve in the final. Minseong Kim won both finals and became the best racer in this category. Zdenek Kostelecky ended the weekend on the 2nd podium step after 2nd and 3rd places in the finals. Jan Travnicek completed the podium.
In the Women category there was a great battle for the podium among four racers. Eliška Matoušková managed to control all heats and became the fastest, Aneta Stloukalova was second. And the newbie in this class, Mariana Navarova, impressed everybody with her incredible speed and made her way straight to the 3rd place on the podium.

 In the Open Class new generation coming from Stock R Class set the pace. Alex Lukscheider topped the timed session, leaving the reigning World Champion Lukas Zahorsky in second position. And another newbie in this Class – Matyas Novotny – qualified third. Alex Lukscheider then dominated the first finals but there was another superfast racer – Lukas Kozon who won the second final to score his maiden victory in this class. Alex Lukscheider finished the weekend in 2nd position and Marek Skamla from Slovakia progressed to 3rd position after his amazing ride in the second final.

After the competitions in Germany the 2023 campaign and the Championship will carry on in Rodi Garganico, Italy in June (16-18).
